I used to often find it strange to be given flowers as a gift. Why give something that will soon wilt and end up in the bin?
And yet, despite my mixed feelings, my mobile phone photo albums filled up with precisely these flowers. Photos of the buds, the full bloom and the wilted remains, slowly losing their petals.
Nowadays, I sometimes buy flowers for myself. Preferably tulips or peonies. They remind me of the here and now – and that life consists of phases.
And also of what it takes for a flower to eventually become a fruit: fertile soil, a sheltered environment, and enough light and water.
It’s quite remarkable what a few blossoms can whisper to you about life, if you look closely enough.
The artwork was created using a single line (one-line technique) and finished with oil pastels.

The artwork will be shipped stretched on a stretcher frame – including a certificate of authenticity and the artist’s signature on the reverse.

Hi, I’m Hanna and my works are created from a single, continuous line, which I complement with acrylics, oil pastels and coloured pencils. My work centres on abstracted faces, through which I explore everyday thoughts and emotions – such as procrastination, anxieties, questions of identity, relationships or the pressure of endless to-do lists.
My paintings explore themes that concern many people, whilst opening up space for individual interpretations. I find it particularly fascinating how differently the faces depicted are perceived – depending on the viewers’ personal experiences and backgrounds.
During an extended period in Spain
,
street scenes also found their way into my work. These motifs emerged as part of my artistic and psychogeographical research into the interplay between personal identity and urban space. For me, they represent possibilities, encounters and the question of to what extent I feel connected to certain places.
