"torn off." is the first image in a three-part series which explores citizens’ dissatisfaction with politics and contemporary society. The works use bold colours and expressive faces to convey the intensity of emotions and inner turmoil.
This “disjointed” communication reflects the pervasive, collective frustration within society.
This artwork is dispatched with the artist’s signature and a certificate of authenticity. A frame is not included.
Gwenda Bertermann
As a young artist, I am interested in a wide range of themes and materials, and on my artistic journey I am always open to new inspiration and media.
My work centres on form, colour and materiality. I am fascinated by how surfaces, textures and layers of paint interact with one another, constantly creating new tensions. I enjoy working with contrasts between density and emptiness, and between control and chance. At the same time, emotions and impressions from my everyday life flow into my work, without dictating a fixed interpretation. My works are mostly abstract and invite viewers to develop their own thoughts and associations.
