Description:
This original work (gouache on paper, 50x70 cm) captures the tranquillity and vibrant light of a summer’s afternoon, lending a stylish presence to any room.
The painting exists in a fascinating ‘in-between’ space – on the fine line between familiar representational art and pure, expressive emotion. Whilst the deep-red apple in the foreground forms the powerful visual centre, the vases and plants behind it blend harmoniously in the soft, yellow-green light.
Particular focus is placed on the unique texture of the gouache: an interplay between matt density and transparent, watercolour-like lightness. As one of my key expressive elements, I have deliberately and actively employed the brushstroke to lend the materiality a tangible dynamism.
A bright, elegant and yet soothing work of art – the perfect accent for your interior décor.

Seungchul Shin
Seungchul Shin was born in Daejeon, South Korea, and has a deep understanding of space and structure, which he acquired through his architectural studies. His architectural training, which began in 2006, and his subsequent time in Germany were crucial milestones that broadened his artistic horizons.
His years in Germany enabled him to rediscover the value of architecture and art in life, which today forms the foundation of his work as a painter. In his artistic practice, he focuses on capturing those fleeting moments in which inner emotions merge with the rhythm of nature.
The changing of the seasons, the interplay of light and shadow, and the subtle emotions on people’s faces are reinterpreted on his canvas, straddling the boundary between figuration and abstraction. Although the figures take on clearly recognisable forms, the places in which they find themselves are psychological ‘interstices’ – a cross between dream, reality, memory and emotion.
In Seungchul Shin’s works, the background functions not merely as a backdrop, but as a mental space in which time, emotions and inner movements flow. His works, which are both a projection of the artist and a mirror for the viewer, offer a space for emotional resonance that invites one to encounter one’s own memories and inner landscapes.
I hope that my works open up a space for emotional resonance in which one’s own memories, feelings and inner landscapes can emerge.
