Cecile

In my paintings, dreams and memories intertwine, fuelled by the influences of our digital world and the depths of the unconscious. For me, art is a medium for bringing the invisible to light. My art reflects the traces and contradictions left by life in a society shaped by unequal social roles and expectations. I experiment with digital techniques, charcoal, acrylic, paper and oil on canvas – a diversity that allows me to create new worlds in which one can lose oneself and find oneself again. Bodies and figures merge between fantasy and reality, thus forming new ways of expressing identity and the self.

Every image, every form is a step into the unknown realms of my soul, a journey through the past, present and future, on which the mysteries of existence become tangible. This is my way of understanding the world: by dismantling it, reconstructing it and giving voice to the quiet voices within me. This work is also an act of self-love – a conscious look inwards, through which I realise that love for the world can only grow through love for myself. By breaking free from existing structures and acknowledging my own roots, I create space for a society underpinned by peace and connectedness.
