Artist Statement
For me, artistic practice is a consistent engagement with material and the cognitive processes that arise from this dialogue. Internal and external perspectives intertwine and focus on areas that elude direct perception. Cause and effect form the structural foundation of my work.
I approach my themes through questions that touch upon social dynamics and psychological processes. In doing so, I explore forms of power, economic and social value systems, the need for play, autonomy and self-expression, and the tensions that arise from these. Through this confrontation, I am always questioning my own position within these contexts.
