Ferdinand Gerhards

My name is Ferdinand Gerhards and I am currently studying Fine Art at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.

My artistic practice focuses on capturing everyday moments and translating them into visual form. The visual impressions I gather throughout life naturally evolve into creative forms of expression and form the basis of my work.

My works emphasise self-awareness and visual construction; I often combine figurative elements with abstract, pattern-based compositions. I enjoy experimenting with perspectives by deliberately distorting proportions and spatial relationships, enabling the viewer to gain a fresh perspective on the familiar.

As a rule, each work emerges from a continuous creative flow that allows me to immerse myself fully in the rhythm of emotion and thought. This approach helps me to express the authenticity of the moment and my inner state with clarity and intensity.

Through my work, I aim to take viewers on a visual journey beyond the familiar. Through abstraction and altered visual structures, I seek to arouse curiosity, challenge established perceptions and encourage reflection.

Thank you very much for your interest in my work. I look forward to further developing my perspective and sharing it with the world.
