Jasmin

Roßmann

In her painting, Jasmin Roßmann draws on observations and situations she encounters in everyday life, which coalesce into cohesive motifs. Her paintings arise from a precise perception of spaces, surfaces and impressions, which she transforms into an atmospheric, minimalist form. At the heart of her work lies the atmosphere of a place, shaped by space, light and colour.

Reduction plays a key role in this. She works in a controlled and precise manner, translating different emotions into a clear, carefully composed colour scheme. Colour serves as an expressive element for her, shaping moods and creating a sense of alienation through shifts in reality.

Her realistic motifs continually move towards abstraction. Smooth surfaces, clean lines and compositional clarity form a visual structure that appears both orderly and atmospherically open. Perspective creates a distinct sense of space that opens up access to the picture. The compositions emphasise the representational whilst simultaneously allowing for an abstract interpretation. This gives rise to pictorial spaces that are minimalist yet exude a concentrated presence.

Overall, she develops a style of painting characterised by clear decisions regarding colour, form and perspective, thereby shaping her own visual language.

Jasmin Roßmann has been studying in Christian Hahn’s painting class at HAW Hamburg since 2023.
