Joosephine-Henriette Becker

In her artistic work, Joosephine-Henriette Becker (1998) explores absurdities and contrasts. She is particularly interested in the fusion of contradictions or contrasts. Through expressive figures, surreal scenes, dreamscapes and mirror images, she highlights the contradictory demands of life.

Ink

drawing forms the core of her work. Building on this, however, she also works in related fields such as etching, animation and painting. Her style is characterised by a clear, emotional impression which, upon closer inspection, develops into a multi-layered pull. This visual language – clear on the one hand, yet interwoven with metaphors and meta-levels – offers viewers both statements and questions, which she occasionally garnishes with a mischievous wink.
