For Olesya, the canvas is a space for reflection, in which she conveys her experiences and observations. Her style lies somewhere between the figurative and the abstract, with figures merging into shapes and creating patches in which it is sometimes not so much the connection to the real form that is important, but rather its abstract expression. Human beings and their place in this world, their emotions and the energy that drives them – these are the themes that interest Olesya. The figures exist in a space unconnected to reality, where the laws of physics and gravity are defied.

Her works are characterised by expressiveness and dynamism; even when the figures are not moving, they possess an inner dynamism. In the past, whilst studying philosophy, the artist explored philosophical existentialist themes: it is a struggle (both the inner struggle of the individual with themselves, unseen by those around them, and the struggle with external circumstances). It is an inner dilemma, an existential crisis and the process of overcoming it, liberation, freedom; she also addresses gender-specific themes, women’s freedom, the power of their nature, as well as toxic masculinity, where the struggle between men and dominance serves as a means of self-assertion that is accepted in patriarchal societies.
