With SKM since May 2026.
My painting does not begin on the canvas, but at the moment when I perceive structures in nature – their power, colour and form – allowing the elements to merge visually, combining them and storing them deep within me.
When I then step up to the canvas in the next step, I immerse myself. Completely. My first contact with the surface is graphic in nature, involving the full range of movement of my entire body. Lines split the white silence. Guided by intuition and full of dynamism, they envelop surfaces, chase and provoke the gaze, and serve as a framework for the unfolding overall composition.
However, these do not dictate a fixed structure; rather, much like a stone falling into water, they set off ripples that inspire me to create the areas of colour.
The process may also begin through aleatoric techniques using liquid graphite or ink, whereby organic or crystalline forms emerge which
character of the painting in the long term. Gradually, colour-rich worlds emerge with their own distinct logic and energy, in
which the echo of landscape or architectural structures still gently reverberates. During the painting process, I allow the images mentioned at the outset
intuitively emerge, as if in a dialogue between the subconscious, the painting surface and the mind. In this way, I too am
moved and curious to see which composition will take shape.
Since 2016, I have also been creating video works that playfully engage with the perception of my own body in relation to the
surrounding world. Themes such as the dissolution of the silhouette, the performative merging with the painted image, earth and rhythm play a role here.
