Artist Statement:
Artists develop a language to communicate personal themes and contemporary concerns. Through printmaking, drawing and painting, I seek to link themes of emotion and spirituality with social issues and current events. To this end, I combine works in various techniques and formats to create associative spatial and wall installations. I am particularly interested in the current shift in global, national and continental power dynamics and their impact on the individual and their experience. A key focus of my graphic work lies in identifying and conveying far-right narratives and linking these to historical misrepresentations within German remembrance culture. I do not believe that artists have the ability or responsibility to change the world, but they can contribute to the wider discourse through effective and expressive storytelling.
