Yelyzaveta Piven
Hi, I’m Yelyzaveta Piven and I’m studying Fine Art at the HfBK Dresden.
At the heart of my artistic practice lies an appreciation of the handmade and of tactility — the living connection between the body, the material and the image. I am fascinated by the physical tension that arises when working directly with materials: whether it’s stretching fabric, cutting paper, shaping clay or applying a brushstroke to the canvas.
For me, material is not merely a medium, but an active partner in dialogue. I explore how hand movements, rhythm and inner impulses shape the meaning of the work. In this process, the manual gesture becomes more than a mere action — it is a grounding force, a means of capturing emotions, states of mind and inner rhythms.
