This painting, from Rabea Dolle’s calendar series, plays with the interpretations our brains offer us for understanding, based on our visual habits. Do you see a banana? I never thought of a banana when I painted this, and yet it is visible. For me, this artwork is about the joy of playing with painterly gestures and the familiar associations that arise from them.

I recommend framing with a mat (not included).
