From 27 October 2022 until 30 October, SKM opened its doors once again and invited visitors to the major SKM Community Exhibition. Since last year, we have been organising regular art exhibitions on site, thereby bringing our concept from the virtual world into the real world. We bring together art students from all over Germany – and this year, even from across Europe – thereby facilitating not only creative exchange and inspiration amongst the students themselves, but also between artists and art enthusiasts.

As a young, creative start-up, we are delighted to be hosting our first exhibition outside our home city of Leipzig this year. Thirteen artists from our large community are now showcasing their work here in Hamburg at Meet Frida’s Art Space. All works are on sale exclusively at the exhibition. The works can be purchased and taken away directly on site.

Exhibition in...?

The Studierenden Kunstmarkt community has now been in existence for several years. Following two successful exhibitions in Leipzig, one thing in particular has become clear: having an artists’ community is a significant source of support in the art world. That is why we would like to create a space where you can meet and exchange ideas. It is also important to be able to provide a physical space for art. Of course, we are primarily an online gallery, but we recognise the importance of exhibitions. That is why we have organised something very special for you this time: An exhibition in Hamburg PROGRAMME OPENING RECEPTION by prior booking only: 27 October 2022 from 6.30 pm 6.30 pm Doors open 6.45 pm Welcome speech 19:30 Artist Talk – Raneem Maatouk (Her journey from Syria to becoming an artist in Leipzig) A selection of drinks & food available on site. Creative Workshop

Whilst the artists are on hand to help with any questions the children may have, they do not interfere with the children’s choice of colours or their artistic strokes. The idea behind this approach is the realisation that children know intuitively – and without any need for art theory – how to create a harmonious picture. Essentially, children are the true, purer artists, who are, unfortunately, all too often fobbed off with cheap coloured pencils and photocopier paper. We will be working with thick drawing paper and pigment-rich Jaxon oil pastels, and will provide a selection of various objects to use as templates. The creative workshop is always open; it is properly supervised and run on the following days and times: Friday: 4–5 pm Saturday: 11 am–12 noon and 3 pm–4 pm Sunday 11 am–12 noon SKM FRIENDS – POP-UP Café on site!

As you may already know from previous SKM exhibitions, Purple Bike Coffee will be joining us again this time with their POP-UP Café. There, you’ll be served the finest fair-trade and sustainable organic coffee specialities. Come along and immerse yourselves in the diversity of art!

The artists

Exhibiting artists: Tom Gully Through his art, he seeks to escape into a world of social critique. Dana Da Costa Her textile works interweave nature with humanity. Drew Mazyck His works radiate inner peace and strength. Jascha Schwarz Fragments of his exploration of the anatomy of the human body can be found in his works. Kaan Ege Önal Honest portraits reflect his artistic talent. Lukas Rosen The combination of text and image gives rise to interpersonal interaction. Paula Klompmaker Abstract and expressionist forms and colours make her works shine. Mara Zota Diversity and originality are always evident in Mara’s works. Teuta Pashnjari Teuta’s works are honest and light-hearted, even if the themes they explore are not always wrapped in light-heartedness. Raneem Maatouk Raneem impresses with her great skill and a profound sensuality in her use of colour. Elizaveta Ostapenko Her works straddle the boundary between sculpture and painting, thereby building new bridges. Musafer Qassim ‘Great achievements with few strokes’ would probably describe his painting style most accurately.
