Sofia Mobilia

Capturing an atmosphere spontaneously and authentically, processing initial personal impressions and linking areas of interest: drawing and photography are the starting point for my projects, as they serve as an immediate medium for me to intuitively capture ideas and motifs. Based on a contemporary, graphic design style, an abstract, dynamic approach to perspective has emerged as a recurring theme in my artistic development: overlays, distortions, disorientations and illusions are deliberately provoked. In this context, light, shadow and reflection play a central role for me in both analogue and digital works, whether two-dimensional or three-dimensional. Even during the creative process, I often combine different working techniques, which enables a rethinking and, consequently, a reinterpretation of the images’ thematic messages. Some of my works can be understood as social commentary or as an indirect appeal. Whilst some provocative depictions encourage the viewer to think and reflect, other caricatured narratives are humorous or inspire dreaming and daydreaming.
