Oil on X-ray
The artwork is supplied unframed
This piece is a unique work of art in which oil paints have been applied directly onto an X-ray. In this artwork, various views of the human pelvis and bone structures appear on the X-ray as a background. A thick layer of oil paint has been applied vertically across the X-ray image in bold strokes of pink, blue and white, creating a texture that stands out against the smooth surface of the X-ray. The application of colour stands in striking contrast to the precise, medical imagery of the X-ray and sparks a dialogue between art and science, between subjective expression and objective representation. The simple frame and the pastel-coloured background emphasise the modernity and visual contrast of the work.
