The title ‘Avalanche’ already hints at the overwhelming nature of the emotional outburst depicted. The artist went through a difficult year in 2023, and this work reveals a deeply personal side of her life.
At the centre of the painting stands a woman whose demeanour is characterised by intense anger. This anger reflects the hurt she has suffered, and the imposing size of the figure depicted underlines the intensity of her emotions. The woman fixes the viewer with a piercing gaze, and her hands are shaped into a pistol grip, aimed directly at the viewer. This defiant expression comes across as accusatory and confrontational, as if she wishes to hold the viewer to account.
At the same time, the image also conveys a sense of liberation. The woman allows her emotions to flow freely, rather than holding them back or turning them against herself. In this act of letting go and open expression lies a cathartic power that symbolises the artist’s healing and self-assertion. “Avalanche” is thus not merely a depiction of anger, but also a testament to strength and emotional liberation.

The work is currently on display at the SKM Gallery in Leipzig and cannot be dispatched until after the exhibition ends in early May.

Painting
Her painting springs from spontaneous emotion, offering scope for experimentation and the pure joy of creative expression. Whilst academic art education often tends to suppress or conceptualise this authenticity, she carefully preserves it in her painting.
Her creative space allows her to transcend boundaries and make room for the unexpected, resulting in series in which she captures friends and colleagues in various depictions. During the Covid-19 crisis, she also portrayed her neighbourhood, ranging from unaffordable flats to the socially deprived area of Kottbusser Tor.
Her art extends beyond realistic scenes to include depictions of dreams on a surreal level, forming a creative bridge to her sculptural works.

sculptures are an expression of her artistic vision, which focuses on viewing the human being as an architectural structure. Inspired by her childhood fascination with her ancestors’ doll’s house, every room in this metaphorical house symbolises a unique facet of human character. She sees this complex doll’s house within every individual, representing the multi-layered nature of emotions and experiences. Her art explores the significance of self-awareness and delves into the unconscious microcosm that encompasses dreams and the vast world of the subconscious. Through her sculptures, Augart seeks to play with these elements from dreams and to build a bridge between dream and reality.
