Ceramic, unglazed: 2025
This piece is part of a series depicting hybrid creatures combining various animals and humans. The focus here is on body language as the sole means of communication, so there isn’t much more to say about it.
Except this: the discolouration arose because the ceramic was left unglazed and placed amongst strawberry plants in the garden for several months. The reason for this is quite simply that a creature such as this can never be clinically sterile or even merely ‘clean’ (by modern standards). It is a being so inextricably linked to ‘dirty’ nature that it could not survive without it. The reward is a deep, inner tranquillity that radiates outwards, ensuring that its massive muscles give no hint of danger or a propensity for violence.
Deep peace.
