With this painting, I have turned my attention to the everyday – the things that surround me and which I therefore hardly notice anymore – and viewed them with fresh eyes.
In this instance, I painted my everyday view of myself in the mirror, wearing a bathrobe, live in my bathroom. This particular situation of painting live made the subject especially interesting to me, as it lends the painting a sense of immediacy and reality. Among other things, I was able to reproduce the lighting exactly as I perceived it, rather than having it distorted by the image in a photograph.
Each painting is sent with a certificate of authenticity and is signed on the reverse.
The painting will be on display from 11 April to 13 June at my exhibition ‘Zuhause’ at the Bennohaus in Münster and can be posted out afterwards.
