Comic: Wormsgate
A collaborative work by Chris Schröder and Theresa Haupt
The work Comic Wormsgate combines sculpture, light and optical transformation. The outer structure, a relief by Theresa Haupt, depicts two organic-looking creatures in a state of dialogic tension. Inside, Chris Schröder’s ‘polymorph’ technique creates a vibrant play of colours, activated by special polyfilters. When the doors are closed, light and material refract into a shimmering spectrum that changes depending on the viewing angle.
The result is an object that oscillates between revelation and concealment – a gateway between dimensions in which tactile form and immaterial colour merge. Comic Wormsgate invites viewers to question the boundaries of reality and perception and to experience the interplay of light, matter and imagination as a living process.
