The painting is stretched onto a stretcher frame, signed and dispatched with a certificate of authenticity.
The town of Aguas Calientes is situated about one and a half kilometres from Machu Picchu and serves as the starting point for visiting the ancient Inca city. Consequently, the town is teeming with tourists, who either make the ascent on foot along a narrow, winding path or are driven up the paved road in minibuses.
Early in the morning, before most people had set off, the construction workers took advantage of the still almost empty paths to quickly install a concrete mixer.
This photograph was taken on a trip to Peru and is therefore part of my series of South American images. Thanks to my girlfriend’s Bolivian and Chilean roots, and her family and friends who still live there, I had the opportunity to get to know these countries more intimately. Although South America’s landscapes are infinitely varied and impressive, it was life on the streets, in the markets or wherever people gather that interested me most there, and this is what I try to capture in my paintings.
This work is on display at the SKM Gallery in Leipzig until 30 October 2024, so it will only be dispatched after that date (in exceptional cases, and by arrangement, the work may also be dispatched earlier).

His works are often characterised by a certain melancholy and intensity, as he succeeds in portraying the feelings and moods of his figures in a striking manner. Through precise brushwork and the deliberate use of light and shadow, he also succeeds in creating a remarkable sense of depth in his paintings, which immerses the viewer in a captivating world.
