Die Dokumentation im hohen Gras zeigt die Fußabdrücke, die die Menschliche Natur in seinem Lebensraum hinterlässt. Die Bilder sind eine Bestandsaufnahme der kollektiven emotionalem Verfassung. Lüge, Einsamkeit und AI werden als Teil des menschlichen Erbguts gesehen und auf absurde Weise zelebriert. Der Betrachter soll eine zerrüttete, uneinige, abgekapselte Welt sehen, deren Bewohner sich im seelischen Verfallszustand befinden. Das hohe Gras als Leitthema dieser Serie verkörpert dabei Natur und Heimat, die der Mensch nach seinen Belieben anpasst, bis in die Unkenntlichkeit deformiert oder darin zerfließt.

Nico Waldemar Dabek

Through the camera’s viewfinder, I explore everyday, mostly urban spaces and often come across scenes that evoke a sense of isolation and alienation. These emotions play a part in my ongoing exploration of my own life story, which has been ongoing since 2022. Likewise, the conservative values of my parents, who grew up under the Warsaw Pact, continue to shape my personal place in society to this day. I attempt to explore this tension between progressiveness and traditional values in my art.

Current project – Vulnerability and Abstraction (12 black-and-white photographs on Photo-Rag paper)

This photo series explores the invisible mechanisms of capitalist power structures in modern school architecture: Twelve carefully composed black-and-white images combine architectural details from three school buildings to form a fictional learning space, in which the play of light and austere geometries create a sense of surveillance and control. In this way, the series invites us to perceive architectural structures not only as functional but also as ideological spaces, and to question their hidden power dynamics
