Material:
Oil on canvas in a shadow-joint frame
Technique:
Painting
The painting was created en plein air on the beach at Sankt Peter-Ording. It captures the unique sense of vastness that characterises this place. The sky occupies the majority of the composition. The blue-grey tones stand in striking contrast to the light sandy hues of the dunes.
Shipping:
The work is stretched onto a stretcher frame and shipped fully framed – including a certificate of authenticity and the artist’s signature on the reverse.
The shadow-joint frame is made to measure by the artist and is crafted from untreated solid wood.
In the photograph, the frame is attached to a gallery rail system and therefore sits slightly away from the wall. When mounted in the usual way with nails or screws, the frame sits flush with the wall.
Dimensions including frame: 54 × 74 cm
Janna Schnoor
Janna Schnoor’s artistic interest lies in the precise and sensitive observation of her surroundings. Direct experience of the landscape is essential to her creative process. Her focus is on the coastal region of Schleswig-Holstein with its wide beaches, steep cliffs and small woods. Through the act of painting, she develops an intense connection with these places, gently exploring and understanding them. Her landscape paintings reflect the artist’s friendly familiarity with her surroundings. The landscape is not captured in a documentary style, but explored in terms of its atmospheric effect. Light plays a central role in this. The paintings glow from within, thereby conveying the transience and fragility of the moments captured.
