Dies ist ein Ort, dem ich jeden Tag begegne, wenn ich das Haus verlasse. Es ist kein besonderer Ort, und doch war er etwas, das ich täglich unbewusst wahrgenommen habe. Was mich im Laufe der Zeit besonders interessiert, ist dieses „Dazwischen“: ein Zwischenraum, in dem etwas noch nicht ganz vergangen und zugleich schon im Wandel begriffen ist.
Ich wollte nicht einfach einen bestimmten Ort darstellen, sondern eine Atmosphäre des Erinnerns und Weitergehens einfangen.
Vielleicht liegt genau darin für mich die Bedeutung des Wandels. Nichts bleibt vollkommen unverändert bestehen, und doch scheint alles seine ganz eigenen Spuren zu hinterlassen.

Die Arbeit wird aufgespannt auf einem Keilrahmen versendet – inklusive Echtheitszertifikat und Signatur auf der Rückseite.
Aus Gründen der Formatstabilität und zum Schutz vor Knicken werde ich auf der Rückseite des Werkes eine stabile Holzplatte anbringen. Anschließend wird das Werk mehrschichtig verpackt:
Seidenpapier → Luftpolsterfolie → Packpapier → Kantenschutz-Ecken → abschließender Karton
Seungchul Shin
Seungchul Shin was born in Daejeon, South Korea, and has a deep understanding of space and structure, which he acquired through his architectural studies. His architectural training, which began in 2006, and his subsequent time in Germany were crucial milestones that broadened his artistic horizons.
His years in Germany enabled him to rediscover the value of architecture and art in life, which today forms the foundation of his work as a painter. In his artistic practice, he focuses on capturing those fleeting moments in which inner emotions merge with the rhythm of nature.
The changing of the seasons, the interplay of light and shadow, and the subtle emotions on people’s faces are reinterpreted on his canvas, straddling the boundary between figuration and abstraction. Although the figures take on clearly recognisable forms, the places in which they find themselves are psychological ‘interstices’ – a cross between dream, reality, memory and emotion.
In Seungchul Shin’s works, the background functions not merely as a backdrop, but as a mental space in which time, emotions and inner movements flow. His works, which are both a projection of the artist and a mirror for the viewer, offer a space for emotional resonance that invites one to encounter one’s own memories and inner landscapes.
I hope that my works open up a space for emotional resonance in which one’s own memories, feelings and inner landscapes can emerge.
