The “Imprints” series forms part of my final-year project at the ABK Stuttgart. Through these copies of organic forms—pressed flat against the copier glass and reproduced—I explore the transition from three-dimensionality to the picture plane under the influence of pressure. At the same time, the focus is placed on the boundary between the pictorial space and the viewer’s space. The organic forms, constrained on all four sides by the format, appear flattened and, at the same time, as if illuminated from within. Always relating to the viewer’s own body, this raises the question: what is exerting this pressure?

Julia Kiefer
Julia Kiefer, an art student at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, studying sculpture under Prof. Windelen. During my studies, I have created many works which I would like to share with the public here. I am 26 years old and work across different media, though most frequently in photography, painting and sculpture. My work explores themes relating to physicality and the extent to which it can be seen as a mirror of inner feelings and sociological processes
