Info: One might think the colours are vying for space in the centre of the canvas. The red settles thickly and magnificently at the centre of the scene, seeking to take it over entirely and push aside the shy blue. But wait… here comes the yellow, which has joined forces with the cheeky orange, the pink and a delicate greenish tinge, attacking from all sides! How insolent, given that the orange would never have gained strength without the red’s influence. Not to mention the pink! Who would have won the battle if I hadn’t stopped painting… One can only guess.

Leyla Jalili

Leyla Jalili is studying art at the University of Osnabrück. Her main area of work is oil and acrylic painting on large-format canvases. Stylistically, her delicate brushwork and focus on the interplay of light and shadow are particularly noteworthy. In her studio, the artist creates both naturalistic depictions and abstract works on canvas. She captures motifs for her paintings, as well as for her prints and drawings, through photographs and quick sketches that she takes whilst travelling or in her everyday life.
