From the deep, rich darkness of the room, a dazzling, otherworldly golden light bursts forth, appearing to emanate from a mysterious opening in the background. This warm light bathes the chair backs and seats in a luminous aura, whilst at the same time casting sharp, expressive shadows. The perspective of the chairs creates a pull that draws the viewer’s gaze inexorably towards the golden centre – a promise, a revelation or a profound silence.
It conveys an atmosphere of tense anticipation and timeless stillness. Who sat here? Who or what are these empty chairs waiting for? The painting is an empty stage, ready to take on the viewer’s story.
With its deep colour palette of rich browns, mahogany and the radiant yellow-orange of the light, this painting is a luxurious eye-catcher. It is more than just a painting; it is a window into a moment of deep contemplation. An investment in drama and timeless elegance.
