This small sculpture was produced using 3D printing with painted filament.
The figure is entirely covered by densely pleated, textile-like structures that create the impression of a frozen movement. The body remains concealed beneath this covering and appears both present and elusive.
The surface oscillates between the soft texture of fabric and precise digital relief. Folds, overlays and constrictions coalesce into a sculptural form that captures the moment between movement and stillness. The digital production process transforms an originally analogue gesture into a reproducible object and explores the relationship between body, covering and transformation of form.
M4 is produced as a multiple in an edition of 25 copies.
The sculpture stands on a thin magnetic plate, which allows for flexible display.

The sculpture is shipped in a box lined with foam.
A certificate of authenticity is included; the work is inscribed with the title, edition number and signature.
Dominik Ackermann
studied fine art as a master’s student in Christian Sery’s class at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. Prior to this, he graduated from the CHS Vocational College for Graphic Design in Karlsruhe and attended architecture-related further education courses at Dresden University of Technology.

We look around and see people walking past us, standing still, leaning against architectural objects, structures and buildings. These people are strangers to us; they are strangers and will always remain so. We do not speak to them, and they appear aloof and anonymous. No longer recognisable as individuals and having lost their humanity, they become intangible beings, part of an urban landscape. These biological, natural forms gradually merge with their surroundings, with objects and the surrounding architecture. Thus, distorted fragments of humanoid life forms from an urban world are reflected in Ackermann’s works. A dialogue emerges here between these figures and their inner relationship with the viewer.
