The work “Nature Studies or Something Like That” features a colourful, childlike drawing depicting an idyllic landscape. In the foreground, two sheep can be seen standing on a hill, looking cheerfully at the viewer. The hill is coloured in green and brown, representing the meadow and the ground. To the right of the sheep, a tree trunk protrudes into the picture, with another, smaller sheep sitting on it.
In the background, a sunny, bright landscape can be seen. The sun in the top left-hand corner of the picture has a friendly face and seems to be illuminating the scene. The sky is filled with blue, curving lines that frame the clouds. These clouds also have faces and appear to be interacting with one another. In the centre of the picture stands a red-and-white-striped lighthouse, reminiscent of a coastal landscape.
The drawing conveys a cheerful and playful atmosphere, which is enhanced by the childlike style and the bright colours. The contrast between the detailed foreground and the simple background lends the work a charming simplicity.
