Description

64x50 cm / Acrylic on paper / 2025

When I began this piece, I had no clear idea of what would emerge. I let myself be guided by the colour and the movement, by the impulse to create something that was both wild and delicate.

I began with the shades of blue and white at the top, which were meant to evoke a stormy sky. Then came the shades of red and brown, spreading out like an explosion in the centre of the picture. I didn’t know where they would lead me, but I trusted the process.

The lines and brushstrokes are full of energy, almost like a dance. They wind around each other, overlap and merge. There are no clear boundaries, no fixed shapes. Everything is in motion, in flux.

I experimented with various techniques, applying and removing paint, smudging and blurring it. It was an intuitive process, a dialogue between myself and the canvas.

The colours are vibrant and rich in contrast. The deep blue meets the bright red; the soft grey meets the rich black. It is a play on contrasts, an attempt to find harmony in disharmony.

I am not afraid of chaos. On the contrary, I find it inspiring. It is in disorder, in unpredictability, that beauty emerges.

This work is an expression of my inner world, my feelings and thoughts.

. My work arises from a direct, physical engagement with the material. The gesture is central – impulsive, powerful, often spontaneous. Traces such as scratches, colour gradients, overlays and raw edges are deliberately left visible and form an integral part of the picture. The painting process is open-ended, process-oriented and follows no fixed plan. Decisions are made in the moment of movement. In the process, spaces emerge on the canvas or paper that have little to do with classical three-dimensionality. They are mental spaces between eruption and contemplation, between concentration and spontaneity. For me, imperfection is an essential part of the process – it embodies the truth of the process.

My painting

has now moved beyond the two-dimensional plane. I am increasingly working with objects and forms in space. In doing so, I apply painterly principles to other materials – colour becomes physical, movement becomes volume. This gives rise to sculptural works in which gesture, materiality and space come together in new ways.
