The Opus Compositum series explores the extension of painting into three-dimensional space. The starting point is canvases and aluminium panels, which are treated with acrylic, varnish and ink, then folded, cut into and deformed. As a result, the painting loses its purely two-dimensional character and develops a sculptural presence.
Colour no longer appears merely as an image, but as a body in space: it settles upon creased, distorted and fractured surfaces and acquires a material autonomy of its own. The works straddle the boundaries between painting, sculpture and object art, opening up new possibilities for dialogue with the space and the viewer.

The work is shipped stretched on a stretcher frame – including a certificate of authenticity and a signature on the reverse.

. My work arises from a direct, physical engagement with the material. The gesture is central – impulsive, powerful, often spontaneous. Traces such as scratches, colour gradients, overlays and raw edges are deliberately left visible and form an integral part of the picture. The painting process is open-ended, process-oriented and follows no fixed plan. Decisions are made in the moment of movement. In the process, spaces emerge on the canvas or paper that have little to do with classical three-dimensionality. They are mental spaces between eruption and contemplation, between concentration and spontaneity. For me, imperfection is an essential part of the process – it embodies the truth of the process.
My painting
has now moved beyond the two-dimensional plane. I am increasingly working with objects and forms in space. In doing so, I apply painterly principles to other materials – colour becomes physical, movement becomes volume. This gives rise to sculptural works in which gesture, materiality and space come together in new ways.
