As a child, I often went mushroom picking in the woods with my mother. It was the Thuringian Forest. One day, whilst wandering through the woods, I came upon a clearing where countless mushrooms stood like flowers. It was an unreal sight.
We were overjoyed at the sheer number of mushrooms we’d found. Years later, when I was a teenager, my teacher told me about the cloud and its impact on nature in Germany; my mother uncritically confirmed the Chernobyl reactor accident to me.
This moment of realisation etched the image of the mushroom-filled clearing into my memory, never to let it go. It is a powerful memory of home, a joyful social experience linked to a tragic accident and its consequences for nature and humankind.
There lies a dual truth in the beauty of the mushrooms.
Of course, the image does not reflect the actual reality of the past; it is a perception, an exaggeration, perhaps an illusion created by my brain – and yet it is as present as my own reality. With this image, I wish to show the power of memories; hopefully, it raises the question of to what extent remembered reality reflects lived reality, and where fantasy comes into play...

Her works have been represented by SKM since early 2022.
She works with oil paint on canvas and also explores other artistic fields through small objects and her voice.
Through oil painting, she captures the emotional reality of a moment on canvas.
She uses the play of light, surface qualities and spatial relationships to convey the intimacy of the moment and the connection between the subjects.
Inspired by her personal connections, her works create spaces for reflection on emotionality, distance and touch.
