Description:
‘Rundlauf 1, No. X’ is part of a series of twelve works created as part of my Master’s thesis at the ABK Stuttgart. The core of the work was an attempt to reconstruct an intuitively created Spirograph image – and in doing so, to understand just how complex and mathematically precise this seemingly simple drawing tool actually is.
The deciphered system became the starting point for an entire series. The works oscillate between control and surprise, between a defined system and an unpredictable outcome. They incorporate elements of Op Art, constructive-concrete art and conceptual art: no symbolic meaning, no narrative – just line, pattern and the effect on perception.
