Space: The Spark
Oil on canvas
In ‘Space: The Spark’, a moment of origin is condensed – the instant in which energy, colour and movement merge into one another. From a floating background of turquoise, green and misty grey, pulsating lines and dripping streaks burst forth, as if a spark were igniting within the matter. Luminous accents of pink, violet and ochre evoke the flickering of an inner light that sets the entire pictorial space vibrating.
The work is part of the SPACE series, in which Chris Schröder explores the emergence of space as a phenomenon of perception. ‘The Spark’ represents the beginning – the impulse from which movement, life and consciousness arise. Here, colour becomes energy, and painting becomes the medium of a constantly renewing creation.
