Belén Nicole Otto Ruiz is in her fifth semester studying Fine Art in the figurative painting specialism at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts and has already completed a Bachelor’s degree in Nuremberg.
The essence of my artistic work lies in a deep longing for inner peace, security and love, as well as the quest for harmony and tranquillity in a time of turmoil.
The urge to retreat into unspoilt nature finds expression in the fusion of figures and landscapes into an inseparable whole. Within this unity, the figures seek shelter and security in the shade of the leaves of secluded nature, allowing silence to take hold.
The simplicity and primal quality of the natural environment, and the depiction of female figures, are inspired by Mother Nature herself. They symbolise humanity’s deep appreciation of and connection to nature, to the earth and to the soil from which all life springs.
My visual language explores the rawness of the human being, their body and their surroundings within a dynamic tension between distance and closeness, security and confinement, connection and separation.
A key aspect of my artistic approach lies in the externalisation of the creative process. Here, familiar visual conventions meet exploratory and experimental approaches. The diversity of the formal language strikes a harmonious balance between intuitive, conceptual and graphic elements. A central focus of my work is the search for harmony between opposites.
