Ina Kaufmehl

Ina Kaufmehl studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe under Prof. Tatjana Doll and Manfred Peckl from 2013 to 2018. From 2018 to 2019, she was a master’s student of Prof. Tatjana Doll. She has been working in her studio in Freiburg since 2022.

“Ever since I began devoting myself to painting, I have repeatedly explored different areas of interest. For a long time, I have been exploring the absurdities and aspects of our society that, in my view, are heading – or could be heading – in the wrong direction. Always with a touch of humour, as I certainly do not wish to exempt myself from this.

For some time now, I have been interested in the visual language of children’s books. In doing so, I try to let my hand run free and work as intuitively as possible. This results in erasures and overpaintings, and whole stories develop in my mind. They are secret stories, perhaps only recognisable to the viewer at second glance. But they may also remain unrecognised and hidden.”

Ina has been part of the Studierenden Kunstmarkt since December 2024.
