‘schiebt’ depicts a quiet moment in the creative process. The focus is not on the finished artwork, but on the act of creation itself: a moment in which attention, action and inner contemplation merge.
The woodcut’s minimalist black-and-white language reinforces this concentration. Visible cut marks, stark contrasts and fragmented spatial forms lend the scene a raw, immediate presence. The act of working is not romanticised, but presented as a physical and mental process. ‘schiebt’ thus reveals the contemplative flow of artistic creation – as a state between focus, tension and productive self-forgetfulness.
I print all my prints as hand-printed proofs and use exclusively classic, highly pigmented printing inks, which have high luminosity and lightfastness, as well as high-quality acid-free paper.
‘schiebt’ is published in a limited edition of ten signed artist’s proofs.
The premium edition 1–4/10 was printed on hand-torn 300 g/sq m Hahnemühle deckle-edged paper measuring 39.5 × 26.5 cm.
The standard edition 5–8/8 was printed on acid-free 170 g/sq m Doree paper, measuring 35 × 25 cm.
Shipping:
Both versions are dispatched unframed – including a certificate of authenticity and the corresponding catalogue raisonné number. The work is signed on the front and is limited to a small edition.

Alexej Eisner
In his work, nostalgic, (post-)Soviet narratives are embedded within biographical elements of everyday life. In doing so, personal and collective memories of the traumas of Russian-German history are interwoven. Eisner presents figurative elements which, through expressive gestures, scraped surfaces and vivid colour schemes within a single composition, create alternating moments of clarity and decay, conveying a sense of authenticity and raw emotion.
