In this continuation of the ‘Misty Mountains’ series (2020–2021), Neah Byson explores the theme of mountains. For this final project, she chose the motif of mountain peaks in misty surroundings. Neah explores how the illusion of a mountain range can be created using various painterly approaches. At times the works feature a homogeneous colour scheme, at others a more subdued and varied palette. The paintings in ‘Misty Mountains’ have an atmospheric quality. The works feature areas that are more expressive and areas that are calmer. Through these varying paces, Neah creates tension in her paintings. Throughout the series, Neah Byson seeks to bring together colour and rhythm in her paintings. Among others, she has been inspired by Ralf Fleck and his sophisticated, nuanced use of colour.
Neah Byson (née Mohan) is a painter and photographer. Her primary focus lies on the painterly exploration of mountain landscapes and portrait photography.
The original painting is executed in high-quality acrylics. The painting is stretched onto a stretcher frame and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
