About the work ‘:’ Pink, green and golden textures emerge from an orange surface and cover almost the entire surface of the canvas. Even the edges of the canvas are covered by these coloured structures. Like rampant plants, the grainy structures spread across the picture and seem to reach out towards the viewer. The pink and green areas are inspired by rose gardens. The entire canvas is curved like a cushion and projects volumously into the space. With this strong spatial presence, the work straddles the boundary between painting and sculpture.
The work ‘Rosengarten’ is part of a series exploring oases of tranquillity in nature. Where can one leave the stresses of everyday city life behind? How are our sensory impressions shaped by nature? I explore these questions in the series, and likewise in this work, which is intended as an ode to the beauty and tranquillity of gardens.
Delivery: The work is shipped stretched on a stretcher frame – including a certificate of authenticity and the artist’s signature on the reverse.
