Beyond Blue is an abstract composition of tranquil expanses and gentle movement. Set against a light, understated colour palette of off-white, delicate shades of grey and beige, and a calm, atmospheric blue, a pictorial space unfolds that is reminiscent of horizons, bodies of water or distant landscapes – without being definitively defined. It is precisely in this openness that the work’s poetic power lies.
The horizontal blue passage runs through the composition like a silent stream, providing a calm yet vibrant counterpoint to the soft, multi-layered surfaces that surround it. Delicate linear strokes in darker shades, transparent overlays and impasto textures lend the painting depth and a suspended tension between clarity and dissolution.
The result is a work that radiates tranquillity whilst simultaneously opening up an inner expanse. *Beyond Blue* invites viewers to let their own associations emerge – beyond the visible, in a space between landscape, sensation and memory.
