The floral still life is predominantly painted in warm tones. The vase stands out from the rest of the colour palette. The work was created using paint, with additional accents in oil pastels. Bloom: Blossoms embody the tension between delicacy and strength, between transience and expression. Their variety of forms, their lines and their rhythm provide a starting point for experimenting with reduction, movement and materiality.
The focus is on reduced line work in the form of line art, the deliberate subversion of hyperrealistic depictions, and the interplay of movement and dynamism. Experimenting with different materials gives rise to varied interpretations of floral motifs.
