About the work: “Stein 15” is part of the “Steine” series, which has already been exhibited in a solo exhibition in Mainz.
The series currently comprises 18 individual objects, which function both collectively and individually. These are works that straddle the boundary between painting and sculpture. The three-dimensional form is made of canvas and cotton wool. Numerous layers of a mixture of paint and sand, and in some cases glass shards, have been applied over this. This creates a surface texture that can be experienced through touch. The objects in the “Steine” series have been designed to be touched, thereby creating a new level of perception. The objects in the “Steine” series remind us of what it is like to perceive materials consciously and playfully using multiple senses.
