Inspired by the works of Arnold Böcklin and Friedrich Nerly, I am very interested in the idea of gates and entrances and the potential they represent. What does a gate symbolise for the viewer – a threat, a promise? And what lies on the other side? Starting from this, I developed the motif of a mysterious entrance. It is always situated amidst a thicket of dense trees and, in this first version, is depicted as a graphic red rectangle, which keeps all its mysteries close to itself and will entrust them only to those who step through it.

My influences can be found in the literature of my childhood, as well as in science fiction and mythological tales. I am also inspired by the painters of the Romantic and Symbolist movements.
In my work, I use acrylics and oils, as well as a range of painting styles, from the more detailed to impasto. I enjoy working on wood or canvas panels, as they provide a stable surface.
