Eva Lause

Eva Lause is an artist born in Osnabrück and raised in Michigan, whose work lies within the field of autonomous drawing. In her drawings, she explores the aesthetic impact of line (and point) by playing with a set of rules she has devised herself. Through these experiments, fields of tension emerge between boundaries and freedom, chaos and structure, dynamic aesthetics and unease, as well as opulence and scarcity. The interplay of the many freehand lines drawn with ink and pen also creates structures that highlight the potential of the line – the fundamental element of drawing – and encourages the viewer to make free associations. Just as fundamental as the line are the observations of the viewers, whose thoughts range from neural networks, through electricity and social interconnections, to narratives of the Big Bang and the origins of the universe. In this way, the artist succeeds in stimulating free thought and sparking conversations about fundamental structures through her drawings.

She is currently studying for a Bachelor of Arts in Drawing under Frank Gillich at the University of Osnabrück and works as a freelance artist, art educator, art teacher and curator.
