The series Decompose represents an artistic exploration in which the traditional boundaries of the painted image are expanded and transcended. In this series, I use specially painted fabrics that drape over the surfaces and edges of the rectangular picture supports. These fabrics interact with the picture support, creating a dynamic connection and breaking down the conventional notion of two-dimensional pictorial space.
By introducing the real fold as an artistic element, the boundaries of the picture are expanded not only visually but also physically. The folds create a sense of spatial depth and lend the works a three-dimensional quality that extends beyond the flat plane. This enables a simultaneous perception of process and result, of boundary and the dissolution of boundaries.
In Decompose the focus is on the unity of the traditional pictorial surface and boundary-dissolving elements. The painted fabrics act as bridges that transcend the boundaries of the image and establish a connection between the two-dimensional pictorial world and real space. This gives rise to an expansive compositional structure that challenges conventional techniques and opens up new possibilities for artistic representation.

Lara Girotto
Her artistic practice is centred on the medium of painting. Thematically, she explores the boundaries – or rather, the blurring of boundaries – within painting. As an artist, her work is characterised by a deep passion for visual aesthetics and a fascination with the interplay of colours. Her artistic creation is a continuous exploration of the ways in which colours can interact and harmonise with one another.
She strives to evoke emotional responses through her artworks and to transport viewers into a world of beauty and sensory impressions. In her works, she seeks a balance between control and letting go, between deliberate composition and the natural flow of colours. Her creative process involves experimental work and the exploration of various techniques and materials to achieve unique effects.
