Description

Material:

Acrylic and wax-based watercolour pencils on canvas

Technique:

The wax-based watercolour pencils are applied dry and smudge-proof, and are further developed into a sketch-like image using glazes of pigments and acrylic dispersion.

- Sketching by the pond and capturing the tranquil atmosphere with watercolours –

I translate this almost daily routine onto canvas using sketchy lines and quick brushstrokes. The focus is usually on the shoreline on the horizon, creating a striking contrast to the soft green tones of the water and the vegetation along the bank. In doing so, I avoid a naturalistic representation in favour of capturing the mood and balance, depending on the prevailing light.

Shipping:

The artwork is shipped stretched on a stretcher frame – including a certificate of authenticity and the artist’s signature on the reverse.

– Shapes – Lines: For me, painting and drawing are an important and fulfilling means of expression. I find it a wonderful experience to bring pure pigments, combined with various binders, to life as a composition on canvas. My experience in drawing from my background in landscape architecture often finds its way into my work as graphic elements.

From 2004 onwards, further training in painting with, amongst others, Alex Bär, Marika Wille-Jais, Sylvia Roubaud and Gerhard Marquard; life drawing with Ruth Effer
