Once upon a time, her task was to prepare meals, look after her little charges and ensure that everyday life ran smoothly. Now, however, her model is obsolete, her speed ‘outdated’ and her purpose has thus come to an end. A robot that was once expensive becomes rubbish overnight and is dumped in the woods. The oil poisons the soil, the rust immobilises all her joints – is this the end of her life?

One day, when moss and lichen are already growing alongside dandelions and thistles, a robin builds its nest in the machine’s embrace, gratefully accepting its protection and, in return, allowing it to share in the emergence of new life. Unexpectedly, a new relationship emerges; scrap metal once again becomes a habitat for the weak and vulnerable. Amidst this miracle, the miracle of the birth of untapped life force also unfolds.

And what of humankind? We now live primarily in the digital realm and have, for the most part, left the living world behind us. We are oblivious to all of this.

I wish we were content with less.

The painting is mounted on the frame and dispatched with a certificate of authenticity.

Half of the proceeds (after deduction of all costs and commission) go to Josh Donaldson, an environmental activist from Scotland who, in his spare time (often with his family), collects rubbish in the countryside and is in the process of setting up his own comprehensive recycling facility.

My art mostly explores themes centred on people and humanity. There is always a moment of disorientation, bewilderment, magic, contrast or rupture. Whether it be the encounter between humans and animals, the dreams of the soul, emotions in all their facets

,

or the aesthetics of colour itself.

My materials and

subjects are as diverse as life itself. From Surrealism and Romanticism to abstract paintings and figurative ceramics, I am constantly struck by new ideas that gradually take shape in reality.
